• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Christmas List - SAKO BigFoots (do they exist ??!!)

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

I know a few guys that watch this page . . . but they never post any photos of their stash . . . because they don't want any pestering phone calls about selling.

Really? Do you think one of them might have a fullstock M-78 like this one? I don't want to pester them about buying it, I'd just like to know that another one exists.

The guys I know that hide . . . collect bofors and pre 72's.

Back in the 70's Sako did make custom orders . . . so yours may be an only child.

thanks Gentleman ! This is a fascinating thread, and I've learned much about the second run of L46 rifles. Yes, we are all in search of that special Sako, whatever it may be and whatever configuration features that it may possess. That's what keeps most of us going.

I have my fair share of fullstock Sakos, but none in rimfire .22. But, there are other Mannlicher .22s out there. I do not own one, but have seen one in person and have handled it myself. Very cool.

thanks again,
DeerGoose

I was looking for just a standard 222 mag, when I found this one in a Mannlicher carbine. It isn't stamped Bofors, but I believe it is Bofors. Serial number 78XXX...

Thats welcome news to me. Can you give any details on the handling of that rifle? Where and when, etc.

Kirk: That .222Mag appears to have the 23.6" barrel. Is this correct? If so, that makes it a very rare variation in an L461. 78,000 is also a very low number not to have a barrel with the Bofors mark. An interesting rifle, and judging from the photo obviously quite effective, too.

I have 5 222 mags, 3 which are L-461 and 2 L-469. This Mannlicher is the carbine version, which I understood to be a rare configuration. It has the 20 inch barrel. The others are: L-461 Deluxe, Bofors marked; L-469 standard, Bofors; L-469 heavy barrel, Bofors, L-461 heavy, Bofors...

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the more rare of the L461 mannlicher is the 24" barrel. And the more rare of the L46 mannlicher is the 20".

Emmerth, you got it right. This has been my experience at least.

I'd love to get my hands on an L469 fullstock carbine (20") with one piece stock.
