• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

The L46/L469 rifles in .222 Magnum were only made for a couple of years at the end of the L46 run, around 1960-61. Others may have more precise information. They are not common, especially the heavy barrel version, but I don't have any production figures. I'll let somebody else guess the value. The model number for the detachable-magazine rifles in .222 Magnum is L469, but most of them seem to have been stamped L46, or without a model number at all.

Click on "Factory Records Service" in the black bar at the top of this page & request a search for the factory records. The L46 is not rare, but a heavy barrel in 222 Mag is not as common as the 222 Rem. Your is the Varmint variation. Peruse the forum section on Sako Short actions. Do a search specifically for the 222 Rem Mag to get a wealth of info about your rifle. Some 222 Rem Mags were stamped as the L46 Model, but others were stamped with the L469 moniker to denote the mods to the L46 to accommodate the longer Mag version. The Rem Mag version came into being in 1959, thus the "9" added to the L46 stamping. Do the research, as there are no short answers.
