L61R Full Stock

Hi All,
Been creeping around here for a while, but I thought I'd share some pics of my new (to me) Sako L61R mannlicher in .300 win mag. Near as I can tell, it is about 35 years old and unfired. Yes, that sling means it's going to be hunted, but I'm of the belief that to keep a firearm like this in the safe is tantamount to never taking a well-bred bird dog afield.
I have owned a Tikka T3 previously, but this is my first Sako. Sold a "premium" Remington 700 Mountain Rifle to pick this up and haven't looked back! Somehow, I get the feeling this won't be the last...

Buster: Welcome and it's a beautiful rifle. I don't own any Mannlichers but they are something I'm intrigued by. You can do just about anything on the 5 continents with the 300 Winchester. It is a great long range caliber for medium game and with heavier 180 or 200 grain bullets can be a good elk, stag, bear, plains game or moose gun. Let us know how it does when you start shooting.

Hi Buster,

I have the same rifle except it came with factory peep sights. I got the piece from a gent who retired to Florida. He said he shot less than two boxes of shells with it. Can anyone tell me what the value is.

Do the 2 L61R mannlichers in 300 winmag mentioned have 24" barrels?

Mine is a carbine barrel is 18 1/2 inches

I rechecked the barrel length and it is just under 20 inches.
