• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Black Bear Magazine Issues

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

I recently acquired a couple of Sako Black Bear rifles. One in 30-06 and one in 9.3x62. I purchased 2 magazines from a dealer that were represented as fitting an 85M action for the 9.3x62 cartridge. The new mags did not fit the 9.3 rifle, but they did fit the 30-06. Then I noticed that while identical to the eye, the mag for the 9.3 was stamped with a b"B" on the rear side of the box, while the 30-06 mag and the new ones were stamped with an A. Any feedback on this, andany idea where I can get a mag for the 9.3 rifle? The other odd thing was the A mags were actually the longer of the two, for the 30-06.

Overall outside dimensions are nominally the same on all of the magazines per action size. If the magazine box is just a few thou longer than the original the gun was assembled with it can cause binding. You can remedy it by loosening off the trigger unit and set it back as far as the screw hole allows to effectively lengthen the magazine well. Remember to tighten the trigger unit back up (15 Nm).

The stamped letter at the back of the magazine body indicates the caliber family the magazine is made for. There are minor differences in the internal geometry.
For the M action size:
A = 30-06, 270 Win, 7x64, etc.
B = 9,3x62 and 9,3x66
C = 6,5x55 SE

Thanks.I'll try the trigger fix. The model number of the "A" magazines I bought were advertised by the retailer and Beretta/Sako as being for the 9.3x62...and 30-06.
I did get the mag to snap in....but it was to tight for the mag release "system" to work: you can't press in on the mag...the release tab works when the mag is inserted without any preliminary step.
