• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Could get this kind of contraption. Do the little tab need to be in both sides for it to seat properly?

Should have two tabs … not sure that the single tab is located in the right place for a proper fit. Good luck! Hope this will help…
Additionally…the later “A” series rifles had hoods that are angle cut front and rear. The earlier hoods were square cut as shown above.

The tabs on the Sako hood hold it in the correct location on the sight ramp, and they also make it harder for a limb to pull the hood off when hunting in brush. Lots of hoods are pulled off and lost when hunting in brush.
Yeah thats the way i figured the sight ramp having for the little tabs in recesses.
If it is a fit the single tab would appear to hold it fairly well. If the price is affordable you might certainly give it a try.
Yeah ill give it a try!

This is an AIII carbine with Williams sights, which appear to be the same as the A1. You can see the rear sight and the shape of the sight hood, which is original and correct. It is not a Sako hood, it is a Williams hood.

Okay thanks for info!

Just cleaned the bolt very throughly, took firing pin out and cleaned the gunk and cosmoline from inside the bolt also. Pharmacy 15cm long cotton tips are like made for that! Clerk at the pharmacy asked if i needed sterile versions, told that its gonna go on the gun 🤣
But man what a difference the cleaning made! Bolt operating feels so much smoother!

Im from world of shotguns so im not completely familiar with these bolty thingies. Does the ejector make ever so slight mark on the bolt body, since its riding the bolt until making its way to the bolt head? Just asking because when the rifle came to me it didnt have that faint line on its side. Now that i have worked and operated the rifle for couple of days the bolt side is showing slight "line". That makes me wonder if this rifle truly is completely unused.

And also, is the safety lever allways been little flimsy? Its working and engagin but compared to beretta o/u really tight snapping safety, its feeling little wobbly. Is it its "feature"?
