• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Was scrolling thru the internet pages and came across this JC Higgins Model 30 .22. I've never seen this model before, not sure when they were made or by who but to me it's a damn sharp .22.

Yes, if High Standard made them they probably are of high quality.

I think they were made back in the early 50's. Hard to believe way back then that they made special edition collector rifles, this one being a Harley Davidson one.

Those vintage 22's were the first rifle for many of us. On other threads High Standard and Jefferson have been mentioned as the makers of various models working in or near the Colt factory. I still treasure my Colteer which likely was made in part by them. Haven't figured out who made the action. Still shoots tight groups and loves old Federal Match ammo the best! Even though they were inexpensive, I'm impressed how well they have held up.

We scrapped a lot of them up here in Ontario Canada. They have a lot of issues they develop and really are great if you want to pull-out your hair. They have a sling that automatically retracts out of the butt stock stock like a tape measure and then hooks on the front but they really are a canoe anchor of a gun. I have seen them slam-fire and go full-auto and you have to keep them really clean. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do and the white-metal receiver is worthless, too. I have seen them break-out, too and the hollow stock is pretty frail. It's kind of hard to get excited about any .22 semi from the 50s and 60s and 70's once you get used to the reliability of a 10/22 Ruger.
