• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Picked up a Sako from my son, he bought it a few years back at a local Gun Shop. He only put a few rounds threw it to sight it in and hunted with it 1 season. I am not sure the original owner ever shot it,
It is a 2 lug L61R 30-06 ser 83xxx in 98-99% condition, it is as close to like new as I have ever seen, even the recoil pad looks new. I had to buy it as he was selling it for $400.00
It does not have the front sight, but looks like it came through that way, have not taken the stock off to check underneath but will when I get time.
It makes my second L61R, first one was a 30-06 inherited from my dad that he purchased between 1963-1964, a pregarcia 3 lug.
Will post pics when I take some.

Here are some pictures

That's a very nice looking Sako. It is probably a Model 72, judging from the checkering pattern on the pistol grip and the lighter coloring of the stock (however, the model designation was not found anywhere on the actual rifle). There is no more versatile hunting round than the fine old .30-06, either. It would have been a shame for it to leave the family for only $400!

Thanks for the info, that explains the receiver not having the same polish and the bluing not being up to the same quality as the one I inherited from my father.
My son was able to get .750" 5 shot groups with it using factory ammo when he sighted it in, so I am hoping it will shoot the same 1/2" groups with handloads that my older L61R does.
