• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hello all!
I'm kindly ask for your opinion regarding Ziegler claw mounts for Sako 85 rifles.
Does anyone use this kind of mounts?
What do you think about this type of mount? For repeatable mounting does it keep "zero" for the scope?
In order to mount this kind of bases do you think it's needed to drill holes in the bases of the rifle?
Any other opinion or advice will be much apreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support with this matter!

In my opinion you should not drill your Sako action to mount any base for a scope or peep sight. You will diminish the value of your Sako unnecessarily. The video is for a different mounting system.
Instead find a base model that is compatible with the mounting system for your Sako rifle (85).
I briefly looked up the Ziegler catalogue (in German) and it appears they do have a base that does not require drilling or screws (SAKO 85 #1230Z22214) and the different ring heights that will work on your rifle.
If Ziegler does not work for your gun, there may be other quick disconnect systems available for you.
I cannot comment on its field experience but appears to be a type used for a long period and in use by the military.
Alanrhone website claims that it is guaranteed that instant removal has no loss of zero

Those "look like" they are not drill and tap mounted on the Sako 85 shown. and/ but dont't do that if it is required. Like Spaher said: find something else.

Thanks all for advices.
@Spaher...you are right, there is no need to drill the rifle . On page 42 from catalog they specify there is no need to drill holes: "Screwless mounting (lateral clamping system of high-tensile steel). No drilling necessary in the system e.g. Sako, Sauer 303, Merkel Helix! Absolutely interlocking fit, no adhesive required! "
I will check with dealers from Germany in order to see how can I order this mount, what will be the price and the bases I need for my rifle.
