First......I use my slings for shooting....not carrying.

For many years, my go-to sling is Brownell's Latigo.
It can be used as a "quick-sling" function.....or a full "target" function.

    1. I don't use a sling for shooting, so to me it is just a strap, kept in the pack or pocket until needed. Before dawn, and after the game or the sun is down it is to attached to the rifle for back carry and to free up both hands. When hunting, I keep my rifle in my hands, never hanging off my shoulder. No sling permanently attached to the rifle encourages this.

    2. When hunting with my son this year he noticed that I never retrieved a brass case that had been used to shoot at game. I deliberately taught myself to do this (even back when I was still reloading) in order to rapidly eject a spent case and immediately rechamber a fresh round without even glancing to see where the brass went. Keeping my eye on the game and assuring that I had a fast follow up shot if needed.

Just the way I do things. Others have their own systems.

The Cobra sling I bought can adjust to carry the rifle on your back as you say. I love that feature. The wider “cobra” part helps especially with the heft of an AV (mine weighs almost 10 LBs with scope and shells) and especially if you are carrying it a long way. Of course if you like shooting slings it isn’t for you.
