• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

i will, but i know nothing about beddin, bendin, so if it will not hold a pattern, i might need some help,it is in exc plus condition,i though it was newer because of the condition, they guy i bought if from had it kept in a camo bra type strap covering all the wood, just a wonderful rifle, how do you tell the age, and what would be the value of this rifle, thanks again in advance

good clean Garcia era sporters are worth between $550-$700, but this is just my opinion. About $200 more for a deluxe model w/ rosewood caps and engraved floorplate. Finnbear was just a name used to correspond to the L61R action. There are other actions/names out there too: L46/Riihimaki, L461/Vixen, L57/Riihimaki, L579/Forester and VL63/Finnwolf to name some.

DEER, thank you for the imformation, I paid 615.00, and I would of paid alot more but didnt have too.can you recommend a scope, not too high dollar, but one worthy of this rifle, thanks again...

a good used rifle deserves a good used scope. Pick yourself up a old Redfield or Leupold scope on a swap site or ebay. You can also check gunshows, but I have yet to find a good deal on used scopes at a gunshow. you can't beat vintage Sako mounts to go with your scope. If you need help, send me an email and I can assist you (sell) with a setup.

Deer, the gun came with redfield mounts, so a redfield scope will it be,but what power exc..the back redfield scope mount is lose, how do you tighten it up ? by driving it on the taper mount farther??thanks again,,,,

Terry

your can't go wrong with the 3x-9x variable. and the Redfield bases are "drive on" bases, which your can tap them snug with a punch and hammer, but only after you've protected them (& the rifle) w/ an old rag or something. Some redfield bases have set screws with them, but I can't remember if they are the older ones or the newer styles. I don't recommend using set screws as they will damage the checkering on top of the scope rails. If your rifle doesn't have checkering on the scope rails, then you have a model 72. Some of the guys have used the set screw setup, but have replaced the redfield screws with ones of softer metal, like brass. Good luck.
