• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I am scouting available inletted stocks and would like to know if any of the L46, 461 or 469 stocks would fit a AI action.

Thank you

Pieter

stonecreeek,
I think it has something to do with the barrel channel. Seems Dick mentioned something about that before. Or maybe it was the difference in the bottom metal? One wider than another. Don't know how that serial number became a turning point, though.

Hah! Stonecreek, you likely caught me shooting my mouth off about something I have no hands on experience with - again. At least this time I didn't volunteer to eat my hat....

The A1 s/n I gave came from Sako's data sheet concerning numbering and changes of Sakos and Tikkas. It shows that beginning in early 82 and with s/n 174331, there was a "change to the rear part of the receiver"... At about the same time the same notation is listed for the A11s, and the A111s also - in addition the A111s gave way to the AV stamping at that time.

The short tang/long tang switch is known to have occured with the A111/AV changeover. My likely faulty ASSUMPTION was that something similar happened with the A1s and A2s... I confess I really don't know if there was any tang changes to the shorter models. If not though, I'm sure curious what they were refering to with the notation of " change to the rear part of the receiver"? Maybe Sako A-Series, or someone else knowledgable will weigh in here and straighten me out. Dick

Dick,
Well, at least I had the source right! Speaking of sako-a-series - I need him to PM me. So, if you are out there?

Interesting. I own one A-1 and several L461's. When I get the time, I'll check the SN on the A-I and if it is above the "magic number" I'll remove the metal from the stock on it and a counterpart L461 to see what differences I might find. Will report when this "sophisticated" research project is complete!
