• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Looking opinions. Have recently purchased a Sako AI single shot action out of an estate. It is not a PPC model as it has a standard serial number. May be able to get a target trigger and proper trigger guard but don't have those at this time. The action has been re-blued and bolt face has been opened up to .473. Action and bolt are complete with all parts. What would be value of action with bolt? I have been pricing stocks and triggers and don't know if I want to start a custom project. I have factory Sako's in 6 ppc already. Thanks, Wayne

It measures out with a Starrett dial caliper. Not much meat around the edge. I talked with a local gun smith and he said he would make a bushing and fix it if I decided to pursue a custom rifle. Not sure I want to spend the money. If I get a chance I will try to post a pic. Action is not here at home

I'll add that I'd be concerned about proper extractor function.......along with correct bolt primary extraction.

Is that boltface opened for a BR casehead size? That's a first for me.......on an AI bolt.

Just a thought....

edit: I'd also question the wisdom of putting so large a casehead on such a small diameter bolt...............not to mention the relatively small receiver ring size.

You are asking all the same questions I have thought of. A BR case sets in perfectly. I would be concerned about bolt thrust. I have no idea if this was ever fired like this. If I go forward with a build I will have the bolt magnafluxed to make sure it is ok. I am thinking 22 PPC or 20 Practical.
