• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Is this a possible thing to do? I know little about these actions/rifles so I would appreciate any help!

Thanks!

Jim

From what I understand, the TRG-S and the TRG-22/42 share the same action, magazine, and bolt. If you have a TRG-S in a magnum calibre, it should fit into a TRG-42 stock. If you are looking for a cheap way to get a TRG22/42, I don't think this is it, as the TRG22/42 have a few factory add ons that make it much different than the TRG-S barreled action. A TRG22/42 stock will run around $2K, and more if it is a folder. A TRG-S can be had for around $1K. $3K will net you a TRG22/42 (All prices $US in the US). Hope this helps.

If you own a TRG-22 and say, have a magnum actioned TRG-S, you CAN interchange the receivers, IE share the stock. _But....

1) You will be limited to short magnum ctgs and only those that might feed from the .476 lip-sized 22 magazine. _Not many fit that description, so... _if you open up magazine lips and run a short mag you would be fine.

2) If you want to use your barreled S action in your 22 stock, you will need at least a different forearm piece, because (I believe) the 22 uses a longer forend stock piece than the 42. _This is because the 42 rifles use a 3.75" long magazine and am pretty sure the 22 uses a shorter magazine. _Have never seen a 22 magazine so don't know for sure, but Sako shows two different forend lengths and maybe has 2 different receiver mount frames.

If you had a 42 and TRG-S I could assure you of interchangeability. _I have done it. _Only thing is, you can't swap the S action with S trigger into the 42, you have to use the 22/42 trigger with polymer housing and bolt attachments.

It is definitely more cost effective to buy a completed rifle rather than build one from factory parts.

There is now a company called KRG that will be producing a very nice stock for the TRG-S, that is simular to the TRG-22/42 stock. Do a web search and drop them a line, and they will give you an estimate on production.
