• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I've just joined the Group. I currently own M65 Tikkas in 30.06 and 338 WM. I've hunted across Canada with the 30.06 and it has performed flawlessly. Have taken moose, caribou, antelope, deer, mountain goat and elk with it. Tikka has been very popular in Canada. Does anyone know if a synthetic replacement stock is available as mine is starting to show numerous character scratches and nicks. I do buy 'em to use and not sit on the shelf.

Hi,
I am new to this site and unsure as to your discussions etc. I own two Tikka rifles and enjoy both. I own a Tikka master Synthetic in 270 and a Master All Weather in 22-250 which I use for varmints.
Does anyone else on this site own Tikka's or are you all strictly Sako men? (I know they are made by same co.)
I have hunted all me life and have had a number of rifles but in particular I have found these to be the most accurate "out of the box" guns I have ever owned!

Tikkas are welcome here. Lots of us have Tikkas and love them. I only own one now, a Whitetail Hunter in 6.5x55 Swedish. It is extremely accurate (if extremely fussy about ammo). I have also had that same model in .30-06, a Model 65 in .30-06 with the large bolt knob for operating the bolt with gloves while moose hunting in the Finnish winter, an Ithaca LSA-55 in .222 with the heavy barrel and an LSA-65 in .30-06. All the above were accurate, reliable and well-made rifles. I regret selling the ones I no longer own. (A close friend owns two of them.) In my opinion, the Tikka represents the best value of accuracy per dollar in a hunting rifle today.

Incidentally, Tikka was an independent company for over 60 years before being folded into Sako-Valmet in the late 1980's. Like Sako, it started out in the 1920's as a supplier to the Finnish military. I also have several Tikka-made Finnish military rifles.

Tikka means woodpecker in Finnish. The name comes from Tikkakoski, "Woodpecker Rapids," where the original Tikka works was located.

Hi Preacher,
I own many Sakos since I purchased my fiorst .243 when I was 16 years old in 1969. I recently bought a new Tikka heavy barrel in a .223. Very nice gun and shoots fantastic.

The only thing I do not like is the plastic on the end of the bolt. I was cleaning the gun up before breaking it in, removing the heavy grease. I used gun scrubber in the spray can and this started to dissolve the plastic on the bolt! This plastic looks like blued steel but is just really a high finish on the plastic. Now the end of my blot looks like it was sandblasted. Was I angry, of course. It would have been nice to have been informed of this when I bought the gun or a notice place in the box etc as I have never encountered this with any gun in the past. If you buy a Tikka be careful what you use to clean it, especially the bolt.

CAREFUL with that Gun Scrubber, everyone! It and plastic don't mix. The same thing happened to me just a few weeks ago w/ Gun Scrubber and one of my Sauer 200 magazines. The plastic on the magazine bottom lost.

Hi from New Zealand i to am new top this site .i own a m55 tikka in 308 . i use the rifle for hunting red and sika deer with the odd pig thrown in. its ideal for the tight bush hunting that i do because it is short and light . its also acurate enough for that odd long shot . this rifle has an 18in fluted barrel with iron sights.is this typical for the model ? .dont like the rattly mag though

Hello, if your rifle is a simular to the LSA-55 from Ithaca that was sold it the states it is not typical. Sounds like an interesting gun. The LSA-55 is a very accurate gun that was well made and lightweight with all steel parts. It has a 22 inch barrel. Not many guns are as well made today.

Sounds like one of the oddball pieces Tikka made based on a prototype military sniper rifle. They didn't make many - if that's what it is, it's a rare one. Never heard of one of the sniper rifles with iron sights, but nothing's impossible. Does it look like a factory barrel? The alternative, of course, is that it would be some kind of custom.

hi and thanks for the reply. I made a blue about the barrel it is 20in not 18in.It is all original .serial no 550-197109.It has a 3 round detachable mag which unfortunately cant be loaded in situ .The stock has a palmswell but no cheekpiece . " Cheers."

I bought a Tikka Whitetail Hunter NIB 7mag. What can I expect out of this rifle?? I'ts a deluxe model and if it shoots 1/2 as good as it looks, it should be ok. Looking for an Antelope load with 139/140 gr bullet. Regards, Rick.

My TIkka T3 in .308 likes 165 gr. Hornady BTHP Match ammo, followed by Black Hills.
If your trigger is like mine you can remove the trigger gaurd and adjust the weight with an allen wrench.
Enjoy.

An M55 presumably mid 1980's
