• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Tikka/Sako Bolt Shroud?

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hello, I was looking over Sako's website and noticed that the bolt shroud on the Sako 85 looks like the one on the Tikka but metal. Is it possible to switch out my plastic Tikka shroud for a metal Sako shroud?

Thanks

We have had a number of plastic bolt shrouds breaking here in NZ on Tikka T3's and my mate has had to replace his and mine has started to break.

How ever after searching on the web I found that a company in Australia makes a very nice aluminium replacement one. I ordered one and it looks real good.

The shroud fits either a Tikka T3 or M595 models.

goto [email protected],au or www.southernxtactical.net.au

regards Dave Hill

General wear and tear I think although my Tikka has only a couple of hundred rounds through it.

My plastic shroud only has a small portion broken off on one side of the leading edge when going back into the action. My friends replacement plastic shroud has a similar break on the opposite side to mine. However his original one blew off when developing loads. May be too hot!

Talking to the local sports shop there is another example of a shroud breaking in our town.

So I do not think it is an uncommon fault.

The reason I initally got a metal one was to pimp my rifle up a bit!

Hey, new guy here...

I am thinking of ordering that aluminum shroud, but want to keep it original. Anyone know where I can find one without going to brownells?

Thanks.

Next place I would look is on the "wants" on Gunbroker, If nothing here pans out. Gunparts Corp may have one-aftermarket.-Misako

I tried and none available . Brownells used to carry factory replacements but no more. I was able to obtain steel shrouds for my Tikka 695 rifles but the 658 is different. Beretta is totally worthless as they could care less about Sako/Tikka. I hope I see the day the Finns dump them

Well to all who are interested ;I solved my own problem. I had already changed the plastic bolt shrouds on my Tikka 695's to steel aftermarket shrouds .Having an extra I tried the 695 shroud on the 658 and it fit (the striker assembly are the same in the two models. The bolt however did not fit into the rifle as the 695 shroud was too large to fit through the polymer bolt housing .Simple solution ,I milled the shroud in the front even with the bolt body.I then milled the outside diameter to the same dimension as the outside of the 658 bolt body.A perfect fit! I then polished and blued the new "fitted " shroud;and now my Tikka 658 has a steel bolt shroud that will last a lifetime.
