• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I'm the guy eyeballing that L461 with the non original stock, bad buttpad, and shortened barrel. To me they're all donors for a custom.

I've been threatening to build a .20 Vartarg on an L461 for some time now, but just can't quite seem to get around to it. How do you like yours?

By the way, although I greatly appreciate a fully original factory Sako, I also recognize the Sako action as the finest basis for a custom rifle. That's exactly how a mistreated Sako with a beat up stock and shot out barrel deserves spend its reincarnated life -- cradled in AAA walnut and holding a $500 match-grade barrel in its threads.

This 20VT shoots and feeds like it should. Couldn't get into the McMillan stock, plastic is plastic, she now wears a pc of walnut. In fact 3 of the 4 rifles in this thread sport new clothes. Next project is a L46 chambered in 20/222, she's sitting at the smith as I type. Some cretin cut 4 inches off the barrel, cleaned it from the muzzle and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't shoot. Stock and action were mint, barrel trashed. The 20/222 will be barreled in a #4 contour blued to match and set back into the factory stock.
