• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

This ebay item appears to have factory Sako checkering and is for an L461 (not an either/or L46 as the seller states). What is puzzling me is that is not exactly a straight (non-monte carlo), nor does it have a true raised cheekpiece. The top line of the comb looks a little like some of the European designs seen on Steyr or other European stocks. Does the top line of the stock appear to be slightly curved, or is it an optical illusion due to the camera angle? Anyone have an idea on this one? If it is a straight stock, would it be a classic model for the S-491 rather than for the L461?

When I saw that stock I thought it likely that the cheekpiece had been slabed off of it and then sanded to what you see. That's just a WAG though. The checkering panels look consistant with an early Garcia 461. I quizzed seller on another stock he had listed and didn't even get a reply... My guess is that it's been cowboyed up a little.

Looks like a Tikka stock to me. That thin black pad is indicative of an x58 series Tikka, as I recall. I do not own one of these rifles, so take my comment w/ a grain of salt.
