• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I was taking a .222 riihimaki deluxe "for a walk" around the latest gun show. I ran into Bill Burtner, (a very knowledgeable collector from the first Sako collectors association) he looked at the engraving on the bottom of the floor plate and stated it was odd (two interlocking hands). He stated that he has seen some different versions on the same rifle and caliber. He said that on the deluxe models, at every 200th piece, the engraving would change slightly on that rifle. Can anyone else expand on this??

We must see pics ! please post them if you are able to do so. Never heard of the 200th piece scenario, but this is Sako, and anything is possible.

thanks,

DeerGoose

This will be great to get a new, not seen before, engraving pattern. If you can't post a picture you can send it in an Email and we (or I) can post it for you. - Thanks, Misako50

I should mention that this is a post from about 9 months ago that went unanswered. Caught my eye as I was redirecting posts from the old "general" catagory. Thought it was too intriguing to pass up. From viewing the membership roster, I can't even be sure PA.sakohunter made the trip over to the new site... Hope so - maybe he could even bring his pal, Bill Burtner...
I would be great to get a look at a new pattern, and maybe some insight from a collector/enthusiast that was active in the original collector's club.

That's not nice , Dick. Got me excited to the point my sleep was interfered with.

Guys!
I have a very very vague feeling IxB4ve seen such a pattern somewhere. I am not_sure but I will go through all material I have and see if there is something like it.
IxB4ll let you know in a while!!
Jim

I'd love to see the pattern in question, and have no doubt it exists. However, the "every 200th piece" alteration story has all of the marks of an Urban Legend. It sounds a lot like the numerous fictional variations on whether the screw holding the grip cap on has a striaght slot or Phillips head (depends, of course, on which hardware store Olaf stopped by to pick up the simple wood screws for that week's production of stocks).

Kind of like the new female Sako rep that tells us how to say Socko. I've been calling them Saycos for nearly 50 yrs and I ain't gonna change now because she or someone at Berreta. said so. I really like Stonecreeks "acronym explanation" best. It makes sense. If something doesn't---- then it probably is not true.- Misako
