Your rifle is from the early production of the L61R long action Sako. The Bofors stamp was used on this model from 1961 to 1969 or there abouts. Your serial number would indicate it was probably from the early 1960's, but Sako did not produce rifles in sequential order so the only way to know it's birthday is to have the factory records or a hang tag. Fortunately, our club has the factory records from that time period, so all you have to do is click on Factory Records Service at the top of this page & request a records search. To learn more about your rifle just peruse the forum by searching in the Sako Long Action section using L61R, Bofors barrels, Finnbear, etc. in your searches. Tons of info free of charge.
