I just purchased a 1974 Finnwolf NIB. There is already scope based on the rifle. They are real thin tapered dovetail. Is there any current rings I can purchase that will fit these bases? I don’t want to change bases fear of scratching top of receiver. Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the SCC Forum!

Leupold has a couple of excellent scope ring choices for your Sako bases. Go to: https://www.leupold.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Sako+rings. Hard to beat the one piece or QR (quick release) rings from Leupold.

You also can find original period high gloss Sako rings online, but they will be 2x the price of the Leupold rings.

Congrats on your NIB Finnwolf!!! Please post pictures so we can ooooogle over your Finnwolf!

Here it is. I’m excited about the gun. I know I shouldn’t but I have to shoot it. I will never sell it so I don’t see where it matters much lol.

David congrats on your purchase and the fact you intend to shoot it is great as that is what it was intended for.

Superlative. For a gun like that I would definitely get a set of vintage Sako factory rings. There's nothing better, and they will complement an extremely collectible rifle. And by all means, shoot it. In my collection, there are three kinds of guns: The ones I shoot; the ones I haven't gotten around to shooting; and a couple of wall hangers that either aren't safe to shoot or are missing impossible-to-find parts. Collectors who get an old gun in new or like-new condition and don't shoot it are missing the fun part.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I believe I’m going to go with the leupold QR system. Much better selection of ring heights. Not really sure what glass I will go with. Would love to find a Leupold VX2 or 3 in gloss finish. Also with the QR mounts it will be easier to clean the gun.

Great find there David, pleased to hear you aren't planning on leaving it locked away and unfired any longer. Fourty Seven years or so is long enough.
From my experience you won't be dissapointed.
