• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Rifles Afield (as intended)

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Up @ 4:30 AM, drive to farm, in rain. Doe thinning project - 1 cartridge = minus 1 doe = eliminate 3 deer. Doe, no evidence of lactating. Saw 3 does @ first light, Great grandsons to hunt tomorrow with their Dad & Granddad. Life is short enjoy the ride & pass it on!! Love that high shoulder shot!
All the best to my Sako shooting friends. B/T
Sorry, no pics. Son took deer for processing, 1-1/2 YO, est.@ 75-80 lbs. @ 93 yds.

Well done
We have a pest of rabbits here. I use a 17hmr for them but I am thinking of a 222 rem for the longish shots. 22 hornet would work well but it is easier to get 222 rem ammo here. Only drawback is cost. A buck a rabbit is expensive.
Nevertheless I hardly ever go hunting nowadays. Mom requires lots of attention.

A good friend's grandson took his first deer this week on my place. This makes ALL four of his grandsons who have taken their first deer on my place AND with a Sako. Apologies that the rifle isn't in the photo, but it was a Finnbear .270. Sure, the deer isn't the biggest ever, but every first deer is a true trophy.

Been doing a little "cleaning up" around the place during the month of November, using Sakos as the cleaning agent, of course. I may have posted some of these elsewhere on the forum, but this seems like a good place for them.

First photo is a coyote at 225 yards with an L579 .243 Mannlicher, 90 grain Nosler Ballistic tips.

Second is a feral hog at 175 yards with an L61R .25-06 (factory LH stock), 117 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip.

Third is a coyote at 230 yards with an L61R .30-06 Super Deluxe (yes, I finally decided to scope this one and take it to the field). 165 grain Nosler Accubond.

Them's pretty furry dogs for south Texas. Musta got below 90 degrees recently!!
These are on my place in West Texas, about 50 miles NW of Abilene. Had a lady hunter from Denmark kill one there a while back about this time of year that she had tanned. It was some of the most beautiful fur I have ever seen.

My oldest. Turned 16 this past week, just harvested his first buck, with a Sako. Bofors marked l61r in 270. Proud dad
Good stuff right there!
My youngest son was 16 when he took his first buck, I just got off the phone with him about hunting tomorrow. He is just as fired up now as he was then, at 38 years old☺️
