• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Does anyone have the address or number for Jim Lutes? I'd like to get a new barrel for my 30-06 Finnbear in a lighter caliber like 25-06. Does anyone know someone who can do the installation?

I contacted Beretta, and was told that a place in Kansas purchased ALL their remaining Sako parts.
The only name I got was " Whitewater ". Does anyone know how to contact them ?
I have a L579 action that I am trying to turn into a rifle. I need stock and barrel. Either full length or sporter

Also, if anyone is in need of electroless nickel plating , I am Boing and Hewett Packard certified. As well as retired. So I do the plating in my shop at home.

That would be my old friend, Jim Lutes, Box 188, Whitewater, KS 67154; phone 316/799-2509. He does not do e-mail. He has been bartering in Sakos and parts for bout 50 yrs. or so.

Thank you.
I remember Jim from when I joined the Sako collectors back in the 80's.
I thought both Jim and Mims Reed had joined the collectors in the sky. Glad to hear he is still with us. I will give him a call after Christmas .
Thanks Again

Mims Reed is still going strong. He has a sporting goods emporium down in Texas (near Houston, IIRC). He hangs out on the Accurate Reloading board, call sign "Harry". He told me one day someone made an offer on his Sako collection that he just couldn't refuse. And that was that.

Thanks for the information DeerGoose. I hope you are doing well.

I just sent an e mail off to Mims Reed as I am looking for the contact # of a fellow Texan he may know. Of course it is Sako related and of the utmost importance! Thanks and take care.

By the way, I'm off to the 100yd tunnel in a few minutes to shoot the new loads worked up for my new .338 Laminate AV. So, in the future when I go back to AK, I won't feel so insecure.

Gene-

Do you know of a Sako collector up your way named Michael Nash? He would have just moved to OR about a year or so ago from TX. I have been trying to contact him. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me find the parts i needed for my L579 action.
I went to a gun show on the Oregon / California border last weekend, and guess what, on a table I found both a stock and a 243 barrel.
So, never give up. Someone, somewhere has what you need.
I even feel a little guilty. The guy wanted $90.00 for the parts, and I didn't have the heart to beat him down a few bucks.
Again, thanks to everyone.

Looking closer at your post, I see yours is an L-46. I don't know if the that one uses the same Bolt Stop/Ejector that the L-461 uses.

Numrich has the L-461 ejector, otherwise known as the Bolt Stop and Brownells has the spring otherwise known as the Spring, Bolt Release;
https://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid...__BOLT_RELEASE__L461_L579_L61R_S491_M591_L691

As you can see, it is common to all the SAKO "L" Series

According to Numrich, it is common to the L-46 & L-461 but, I would call them before I ordered it.
https://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=1173840&CatID=10342&mySort=1

I ordered the Bolt Stop and Bolt Stop Body and they were an exact match for my L-61R. All the "L" Series of that era had a common Bolt Stop/Ejector assembly.
