• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I was wondering if anyone knew more info about the P72 and other Sako rimfires, esp in .22 Magnum please?

Pros and cons, type of construction and triggers, are they better designed or finished than say the M78 and P94?

The P72 is essentially identical to the M78. There were a few P72s made with glossy finished stocks and brite blue, but most of them I've seen are oil stocks and more subdued blue like the P75 and M78. The magazine for the Hornet is very slightly wider in the M78 than in the earlier guns, apparently.

In my (limited) experience, the .22 WMR is the rarest caliber in any of this series.

Thanks... based on that info I've just bought a mint P72 in .22 WMR, will post photos when it arrives!

In the meantime, do M78 stocks fit the P72?
Or are the P94 stocks the ones to look for?

Mine has the standard stock in excellent condition (without cheekpiece) and I'd like to upgrade it if possible...

Thanks... do you know if the .22RF stock will fit the .22WMR or is the receiver longer in the larger calibre?

In that case would a M78 .22 Hornet stock fit a P72 .22 WMR?

Anyone able to comment who has both examples in their Sako collection?

The receivers are essentially the same for all three calibers, but the magazine cut is different. The WMR is naturally longer than the LR, and the Hornet is longer still. I would think that any might be adapted to the other with a little bit of clever reworking.
