I recently bought a Sako M995 rifle in 7mm STW and the bolt was lost in shipping. Where can I find a replacement Bolt? Thanks Derek
I've replied to this already... Scourge the world for a used one. The cost for fitting it will probably be close to fitting a new barrel. Buy a new one for a TRG-42. The cost fitting it will be the same as above.
Sorry for the confusion I have not posted previously (maybe someone from the gun shop). Can you recommend a webpage to purchase that and a gunsmith to fit it?
I would say eurooptic.com is your best bet if your local dealer can't help you. Midwest gun works used to have some, but they're all sold out. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/ssearch.html?Search=M995 Regarding gunsmith, I'm sorry to say, I'm not able to help you.
John, How do you know a trg 42 bolt will work? We contacted Beretta and they said they couldn't make it work? What calibur should it be ordered for?
Beretta knows very little about the technical aspects of Sako rifles. They are mainly a sales organisation focused on new products. It is a well known situation that Sako support mainly is carried out by knowlegable dealers that at the same time have their hands tied behind their back due to Berettas corporate policys. The M995 is based on the TRG-42 action. Sako spare part numbers, looking in old spare part catalogues, are the same for both (bolt body, bolt stop and so on). One of my M995 actions is now residing in a TRG-42 stock. The bolt you are looking for is the TRG-42 300 WM 13.5 mm bolt face (M995 part# S3541308). The reason Beretta USA might not be able to help you might be due to Beretta Spa policies not to sell bolts separately. Buying a bolt, you will still need a gunsmit to install it. The barrel might need modification to headspace correctly.
Buy another M995 or a TRG-42. Then you could swap the bolt back and forth, after having a gunsmith modify the one you've got so the bolt fits. That or selling/parting out the one you've got and buy something completely different. Best of luck with your decision.
Curtis Custom or Terminus are great. They are a Sako M995 on a Remington 700 footprint. I highly recommend them
