I need a follower spring for an older Sako long action. This is a model AIII. I searched Brownell's and Numrich but haven't found anything yet. Any info or leads would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Bill

A friend made one by converting a Lee Enfield magazine spring. That might be a solution for you!

It may come to that but I don't have a belt sander. I'll keep looking but thanks for the suggestion!

Why would you need a belt sander? Just curious!

IMO you need to start with a spring that's at least as wide and long as needed on both ends. Then you would have to trim it back to the desired dimensions. The easy way to do this would be with a belt sander. Using a dremel or something like that would probably result in an uneven surface that isn't square.

    How about a file?

I found a gunsmith in PA that has a new old stock spring for an L61R. It seems very close from the pics he sent me. Can't wait to get it.
