    Has any one seen factory rifles in L61R in;
    9.3x62
    9.3x64
    8x68S
    308 Norma
    338 Norma
    358 Norma?

I am keen to find an older rifle in either 8x68S or 9.3x64 or any of the above mentioned Cals...

Hi Steve. I've seen two 9.3 x62's, granted one was in an AIV Safari grade and the other was an AV Hunter. I can't recall but I may have given everybody heads up here about the AV and a person in Alberta bought it from The Laramie Wyoming gun shop that I saw it in. 1900.00 USD about 5-6 years ago.

OK I have a 7x57 in L61R that Poulson re-stocked and a as new 7x64 sporter in L61R and an AV in 7x57 & 93x62 but was wondering about the 8x68S and the 9.3x64 Brenneke and the Norma Mags surely one would think these exist being a Euro rifle?

Steve, I don't think Sako ever chambered for the Norma rounds, at least they never were imported to the US that I'm aware of. All the "metric" rounds that Sako chambered for are scarce or non existent in the US as well. The 8x68S & the Brenneke are not rounds I can ever recall seeing in a Sako here, but that's not to say they don't exist. I've got a feeling they are kinda like finding a "Bigfoot".

Yeah well im still looking, I recall a thread on this site from a guy here is Aus a Polly from the shooters and fishers party in Victoria....claiming he had a 8x68S but he would not send Photos so maybe???, another guy claimed he had 2 here in Aus again no proof so dead ended again.
I could only imagine a 26" barrel deluxe in 6.5x68S pretty much a 264 but not a belted case, even an 8x68S great round too. Got them in ZG47 Brno but having a tough time finding a Sako mate..

Maybe Danial Young has mistaken a Sako Hi Power for an L61r.
As you’d know Steve, the Hi Powers were chambered in some of the examples your looking for.
I’ve seen the odd A series advertised and in the hand in 9.3x62, 7x57 and 7x64, but that wasn’t the question. I’ll add though that apparently only 6 AV 9.3x62’s were brought into the country when Winchester Australia were the importers.

This is my 9.3 with S&B Stratos 1.5-8, I will be chasing a large boar this afternoon with this Rifle, it has recknagle QD mounts so the switch to open sights is fast, I think this in 9.3x64 or the 8x68S would also be a great large Hog rifle, I have smashed some huge boars with this Rifle. Heres one of my sites I shoot, pretty hard to miss Ay..

Why make them in a high power.... then skip a generation and reintroduce them in the AV series, doesn't make much sense?

I am almost certain I saw one, one time, in a 308 Norma Mag. I honestly can't remember where it was, maybe a gun shop in Texas? Just one of those things....

    Too poor, just remember holding it and thinking "I don't need a 300 Mag, I've got a 7 Mag and a 375 H&H" LOL

I believe it was a SAKO and a 308 Norma, might have been a custom build, I really don't remember.

The 9.3x64 would be better than the 358 Norma in any case.... and the 300H&H is better than the 308 Norma also.

Nothing yesty, seen some smaller versions but not the one I'm chasing, pulled a hair out of the barb over 3 1/2" long so he's there but need to cross path's.
