• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I purchased (paid $575.00) a Sako L61R Finnbear standard sporter in .338 win about a month ago. I would rate it as NRA Good condition. Serial # 5192xx. It is marked as a Garcia and does not have the 3rd locking lug. Can anyone tell me the year it was manufactured?
The rifle shoots well (one minute of angle) and I have had my gunsmith glass bed the barrel, adjust the trigger, as well as replace the old recoil pad with a KickEZ pad.
I have a Leupold VXIII 3x9x40mm mounted with Leupold rings. Is the leupold mountin system for Sako rifles any good? I will be using the rifle on my next trip to Africa and I want the best possible rings and bases (strongest) on this gun.
If anyone has a set of Sako rings they want to sell, email me at [email protected]

This website is a great resource for Sako owners. Thanks for your help.

Probably 1974 or 1975 manufacture. Yes, I would swap out the Leupolds for a set of Sako rings. I've heard that the Leupolds are risky, but I don't have any experience with them so don't take my word for it. Maybe others will provide recommendations. Good luck on your African hunt.
