• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am quite interested in some information that is written in a 1970's Sako catalogue. Quote- "Forester" Fixed five-round magazine. Exrta detachable five-round magazine optional for .243 Win and .308 Win, and on another page. "Fixed magazines are a standard feature of Sako rifles. Detachable magazines are available optionally for .243 Win and .308 Win. calibres". Can anyone tell me if they have a detachable magazine on a .243 Win and or .308 Win L579 "Forester" Rifle and if so where can I purchase one. Do you think there were different stocks for the fixed & detachable rifles? There is no mention about this in the catalogue. I have never read about these detachable magazines on the forum.

Mike- I believe there is a firm in Canada that makes them or made them at one time . I have seen a few for sale here but that was a few years ago. Hopefully some member that knows more will post.-Misako

Mike,
Any information on these rare detachable clips, and or photographs would be greatly appreciated. I do know that the clips are available {old stock} from Sako Finland, but getting one from Sako would be like getting gold out of Fort Knox! One of the members of staff at Sako sent me some photographs of these clips last year, but when you try to order one from GMK our importers, one is told that the clips are not available and haven't been for many years!

Old topic, but nothing else to do so here is little comparison..
I compared the Sako Forester and Sako Target. Target has been made at the factory with removable clip. Side by side comparison, the difference is small. Removable clip locked to the same pin with the original not removable magazine. On the other side magazinetunnel (that Target model) is a small button and spring. This button appears to be a tighting removable clip so that it does not move by itself. Removable clips are rare. In Finland, such a clip costs around 200USD. If you find it somewhere... Modification is probably not difficult, at least not for an expert. I believe because of this you don´t have to break your rifle.
