• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Mine is a Varmint, SS, Lam stock. Just wondering who also has one
and some questions about chamber specs and what your loading up. Your fired case
measurement and which brass are you using ? I'm using NORMA and Sako and a few Lapua left.
My fired cases are measuring .268-.269, mostly is the former with a digital scale. What's yours ?
I'm getting roughly 3 firings from my new Norma sending 68 Ultras at around 2700 to 2900 and neck sizing only before body sizing. Norma is pretty soft, haven't had to trim yet as it's not growing in length.
Not turning any necks either as I've ruined some brass doing so due to the SAAMI chamber (.269ish). My loaded rounds are .265. . Today, going to tighten up a bit and try using a .264 bushing. I've been using Redding competition dies w/ nitride bushings as of late and my Coaxial press getting .001 run out.
Using mostly Varget and Vit,N133 but today loading up 70 Nosler BT spitzers and trying out some 8208 XBR. Trying to find the "sweet spot" my rifle likes. With the 68's, I was getting better 100y groups running in the 2500 to 2650 range.

Welcome to the club, and many thanks for your service. I had the same rifle and mine pretty much mirrored yours. I used mine just for hunting with H335, Norma and Sako virgin brass, br4 primers, and Sierra 75gr HP and 85gr BTHP seated .010" off lands. I got 3000fps and 2900fps respectively with consistent .5" groups.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your reply!
How old was/is yours ?
Still have it ?
Did you ever check your fired case necks to determine chamber size ?
I measure .268 right at the neck rim but gradually bigger as I caliper down towards the shoulder. I am neck sizing 2/3 of the neck only.
Did or do you turn your necks ?
Mine is a 22" barrel, most of the data I find out there is for 24" and speeds are quoted higher. I haven't pushed mine past 2900 as I don't want to put added barrel wear for reasons of potentially selling it down the road. (I never sell my guns, just a fleeting thought)..:wink2: I am thinking a about installing a Douglas premium grade match target barrel 10twist finished to 24" with a no turn chamber .265 neck. For the time being though, I'll keep working up some loads looking for the sweet spot my barrel likes.
So far, I'm using 70's and 68's. I wasn't sure if my twist would like the heavier 75' and 85's as I haven't seen a lot of loading data for the heavier lead mostly up to 70. In looking at that 6BR I do find load data for 85 and 90's
Always appreciate any feedback from others with same gun..

Rob-
I don't recall my serial number, but I bought the rifle about 5 yrs ago and it appeared to have been unfired. I sold the rifle about 3 months ago. I don't recall the barrel length, but it was as it came from the factory. I don't recall my fired case diameter. Sorry, I'm not much help. I did experiment a little with neck turning for best uniformity, but quickly gave that up as too tedious and not necessary for me to shoot 1/2" groups...and I had nightmares about having to deal with "doughnuts". If your rifle is like mine and has a 12" twist, you should be able to stabilize bullets up thru 85gr, except maybe for the 85gr VLD profile bullets. 6br.com is a wonderful website with a plethora of info on the PPC and load data, especially for target shooters. All the best.
