• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Finnwolf VL63 Sako Finnwolf lever action VL63 or VL73 308 Question

I have a Sako Finnwolf VL63/VL73 serial # .
10720 - I've owned this for about 35 years purchased from a friend when we fired it for the first time at range 35 years ago. Has not been used since. Question is in my researching matches the description of a VL73 (no cheekbut and 4 round staggered magazine). Information I have been able to find is very scarce on VL73. Does anyone have one of these or know of anyone who does. Mine is stamped VL63 but has all the other charactestics of VL73 including serial number matching the 73-75 time frame. Just from looking at pictures it seems that mine might also have a darker stock. Started researching it because I was thinking of selling it. After handling again and researching I'm leaning on keeping it.

wtjc- Possibly, the reason you are not finding more out about the non-existent VL 73 is because it was a "name plan" by the Garcia folks and never got off the ground in anything other than some press releases and some articles written by some outdoor writers" back in the day". As far as researching the various characteristics as they may or may not pertain to the non existent VL73. Your guess is as good as mine. I think that they were on to a good plan with the ambidextrous stock and I even like the 3 shot flush mount clip. The 4 shot clip has been around since the introduction of the Finnwolf so it isn't a characteristic of the "planned" VL73. I think that all we are really finding out is that we don't know as much as we would like and we are not likely to become more enlightened. I think the Finnwolf is gone because it became too expensive to produce. Best, Mike

Mike - thanks for the info. The stock does not have the cheek pad as I mentioned but know I'm not sure if my magazine is 3 or 4. I can visually see that the cartridges are staggered but I have no ammo to verify capacity. The magazine is flush though. Will check as soon as I pick up a box. thanks

Hi Marlin 92
I own a VL63 308 Finwolf that I'm not selling but planning to hand down to a nephew..
Mine has the following stamps on the barrel:
Finwolf ( not Finnwolf ) VL63 Finland then the guns SN Also a ( W V ) stamp which
sort of looks like the West Virgina University LOGO
I'm wondering if you had any idea why some guns say finwolf and others Finnwolf ?
Also do you have any clue what its worth??
Guns in Great shape.. Ive own it for about 35 yrs and fired it maybe 6 times..
still own the first box of shells I bought for it hahahaha
I've looked for some sort of GUN BlueBook with no luck... May visit the Book Store ...

Thanks
Marksman

Marksman- Your Finnwolf is worth $1250 in mostly unused condition and with the appropriate Sako factory scope ring mounts. That is just my humble thought on your rifle without seeing it.- Misako
