• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I need to know the production year and estimated value of a new Sako L61R Finnbear 7mm Rem. Mag. Rifle with no box. Fired once or twice. Serial No. 43XXX. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would largely concur with DeerGoose. In 7mm RM, he might be a little high on a standard. It seems to me that that caliber doesn't bring quite the interest of others as it was a pretty common and popular chambering. I'd say $800 would catch it, and $1000 or maybe more on a really nice Deluxe. If it is complete with original rings that helps.

The Deluxe can be identified by the engraved floorplate, skip line checkering, and contrasting grip cap and fore end. It also had a slightly higher polish to the bluing, but that is hard to differentiate without another gun side-by-side, and is subject to some fading after 35 or better years. Most Deluxes used a lighter color stain on the wood than the typically dark standard grades.

I have just purchased a Sako L61R 300 win. mag. that is fully engraved on the barrell, on the rings, on the bolt, on the trigger with very detailed scrolls and a bear on the floor plate by J.O. Harwood. It's in 99% and the blueing is said to be 100%. I wish i could send pictures. I've never seen anything comparible on the net. Can any one help give a value, or has anyone ever seen one like what i'm describing?
