• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Finnbear L61R .270 win scope mounting?

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

dk,
I am partial to the SAKO Optilock direct ring mount (no bases). I save my milk money for a bit and take the plunge:cry3:. There are other direct mount rings made for SAKO that are cheaper. I am assuming here you want them for a shooter, and not likely to remain a "period" accessorized rifle?

Howdy 5280,

Do the Talleys have set screws in the bases? I've seen lots of others here use them, but If I recall there are two vertical set screw in the base piece. Is that the "screw lock" descriptor?

I can't bring myself to use the Redfield or Burris type mounts with the central set screws as they mar, mangle, deface, mutilate the receiver top. IOR Valdada looked promising with their picatinny style rings and base set up, but I believe they are set screw up your receiver mounts too.

I've had luck with old style Warnes. I've heard that a shooter or two have had shearing problems, I never have. Although discontinued, they pop up every so often. (Maximas won't work)

Finally, keep your nose plastered to the classifieds here, on Evil bay, on G broker and you can find some old style, windage adjustable. Medium height Sako rings between 50 and 150 bux.

or you can go buy some leupold ring mounts.

Gary,
Confirmed. I got some Valdada rings for a 34 mm tube. They are picatinny bases for the dove tails with the set screws. Quality I thought is better than the Leupold. My opinion. Just the same problem with set screws.

Get the Talleys with the seperate bases and rings . I used Leupolds and Redfields for years but they won't your zero like the Talley two piece.
