• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hey all ~

Does anyone know if Sako provides tours of their factory? Or maybe better asked, does our Forum have any connections to get a quick tour?

I'll be working in Finland for three weeks in May and plan to make a visit to the Suomen MetsxE4stysmuseo, The Hunting Museum of Finland, which is also located in the town of Riihimaki, just down the street from the Sako factory. Among other great exhibits, the Hunting Museum also houses an amazing Sako firearms collection.

If you have any connections, please send me a PM.

Thanks and regards,

J.J. (hyvaa_suomi_sako)

JJ,
I'm sure you should be able to get some access. I know this was possible before Beretta got there, but don't know now. As soon as you get there, give them a call. The number is on the SAKO.fi website. You are going at a great time of the year. If you have any problems, let me know. I have a friend there who will be here in the US for the NRA convention, but don't know his travel plans. I'm sure he could help. There are a few other folks on the forum who may have some email friends there. A direct call when you get there should do it.
Have fun,
S-A

Have a friend who works for a major gun store/distributor here in the states that went to the the Sako factory last fall. Sako rolled out the red carpet & even set up an elk (we call them moose here) hunt for him at their hunting grounds. Not sure if they do the same for individuals, but it would be worth looking into. He said the place & the people were fantastic. You also get to see the stuff they make that is not imported to the US by Beretta. IMHO Beretta is the worst thing that could have happened to Sako fans. If you get to go let us know what it is like.

J.J.,

When you arrive in Finland you call Kari Kuparinen (Director of Product development in Sako).

He is also Chairman of the Board for the Museum in Riihimaki.

Agree with him abt a convenient time to visit the factory and the museum. Kari is extremely helpful and a professional when it comes to almost everything in Sako.

Enjoy your visit!
