    Hi all,

I have a Sako AII 308w. Love the rifle, shoots like a dream.

Thinking about geting a new stock for it.

Will a "at one thumbhole" stock from boyds for the l579 forrester fit?

Can anybody tell me some more details about the gun? Year?

    Best regards
    Marcus

It is hard to say with those close up pictures. There appears to be some cover in the bolt handle which is intriguing, but you have a vanilla Stoeger imported 308 that I would guess is 1980’s vintage. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still a good representation of a later Sako.

Your thumbhole stock is purely a matter of personal preference, I never have seen the attraction of them...

What is the problem with its current stock? Does it not fit you, or is there some other issue?

That looks like a heavy-duty moderator on the rifle, with the barrel having been shortened considerably. I would think that moderator dampens the muzzle blast considerably.
