• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hello group, I am a new member and avid hunter and reloader from NB Canada. I own a Sako Vixen L461 in 222. rem. and love it it shoots awesome . My question is about a Sako model A 2 in 22-250 I can not find any data about this model rifle and have chance to purchase at reasonable rate. Thank you.

Let me know what you are looking for and perhaps I can help. I am familiar with this model and have older catalogs.

The A2 action is outstanding, however beware a used 22-250. Check the barrel for throat errosion, etc.

Thanks Dave G, just looking for some general facts and data about this model ,production dates and runs. Anything would be a great help. The rifle has not been fired alot, the wood is outstanding and the price is good with sako rings . The barrel looks cherry and the throat looks unmarked.

The "A" series was made in the mid to late eighties, with the A2 action serving as the foundation for the mid length .473" boltface rounds Sako produced, including: .308, 7mm-08,.243 and .22-250.

As listed in Sako's cataloge from that timeframe, the standard Sako hunter .22-250 weighed 6.75 pounds and sported a 21.75" barrel length.

The A2's are outstanding actions and thus sought by gunsmiths for custom rifles. They are well made and thoroughly dependable. I have 3 A2 based action rifles and one NIB action in the white. All show superb craftsmanship.

If the price is reasonable and the barrel not worn, it is highly unlikely you will ever regret buying it. The local coyotes and chucks may not be to happy however. Good luck with your purchase.

Thank you Dave G. for the info. I was wondering about the age the most, shot the rifle some today,it shoots very well and works beautifully.final negotation on the price this evening.I am a avid coyote hunter and have had great luck with the vixen but wouldn't mind a bit more power. So with any luck I'll have 22-250 tomorrow and my son will be in line for a L461 Vixen 222 rem. Thanks again!!
