• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako 85 Bavarian Scope query

Hi all!

First time poster here so please go east on me! . I’ve finally received my Sako 85 Bavarian in 30-06 after waiting near on 12 months for it.. I’ve purchased a Kahles Helia 3 4-12x44mm to put on it. I went off of the optilock ring height guide and opted for the “low” one piece rings in 1” as I like the thought of having the scope as low as possible to the barrel. I’ll definitely have the objective clearance, however my worry is about the rear sight.. Will my scope be much too low and captures the rear “v-notch” sight in the field of view? Or will it be something unknown until my rings arrive and have the scope physically mounted?

Many thanks in advance

Iron sights showing up in the scope picture is usually a thing only in the 1-2.5x magnification range. I think 4x is already so much you will not see it. Even if you did, they show up as fogginess on the lower quarter of the image, where it doesn't really matter.

Hi P04R! Thanks for taking the time to reply. You’re correct too! My rings arrived today and I had the opportunity to quickly place them on the rifle and had a look through to confirm, but you’re right and the rear sight can’t be seen on 4x magnification. It was only brief as I had a flight to catch, but it’s put my mind at ease! Thanks again for your response
