• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

A month ago I asked for opinions on which 22 Sako I should buy. After receiving no replies, I opted to go with a Sako 78. The one I found had open sights as well as scope bases. It arrived today, and after 2 weeks of anticipation, my day was ruined. The rear base was drilled into the top of the receiver, not using the factory holes, and drilled crooked. The wood by the front of the receiver where the barrel goes in was broken out, and revarnished. There was even a run in the varnish. The action has been glass bedded, and the barrel is away from the wood by 3/16ths of an inch at the end of the stock. The trigger pull was a hefty 9 oz., and the end of the barrel has been cold-blued. Other than that, the rifle was "like new" as described by the owners. It is going to be sent back as soon as UPS opens on monday. If anyone has a nice, honest 78 22lr they want to sell, or know where one is, Please let me know. Prarie Dogs will be in prime season soon and I sold my Ruger 7722 because I was tired of looking at it. All I want is a nice Sako 78 22lr, with a trigger I can adjust to 2 lbs. Thanks for your help, Scott

Don't feel too bad, it happened to me. I asked all the usual questions and received the normal answers. The gun I reciever was not the long range hunter model, but rather a rebarreled, refinished, glass bedded reciever. The kicker of it all was that it wasn't a 270 as advertised but rather a .264 win mag. It's currently being made into a 7mm stw with a Mcmillian stock. This story may have a happy ending, I'll find out soon. Also, if you have a hard time finding a good Sako 22, I have a n.i.b. Kimber that has sat in the safe for the last year. I'm told their tack drivers but I'd sell it to you for $500. [email protected]
