• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I have just purchased a Sako 75 and a Leupold VX-L 3.5-10x 50 scope. Which mounts by Sako or another mfr. will allow me to mount this scope as low as makes sense to take advantage of the cut-out in the bottom of the objective and provide a secure mount?
I an new in this group, so please excuse me if this has been covered before. I do not find a search option to search the postings for key words.
Thank you,
Otter75

You should be able to find a reference for Leupold's own ringmounts for the Sako on the Leupold website. My guess is that the "medium" height would clear, otherwise if you had to use the "high" the whole point of the divot in the bottom of the scope would be moot. I sincerely doubt the "low" clearing, as it will not clear with a round 40 mm objective.

There is data on the Optiloks both in the catalogue and on the Sako.fi website that should address your issue. If you like a good solid cheek weld on the stock like I do, you should be able to use either the XTRA LOW one-piece ringmounts or the XTRA LOW rings with bases (two piece).

In my opinion, most shooters use mounts that are too high, and this may contribute to a less steady hold because the cheek weld is not there. With the VX-L, you should be able to get it very low if you wish.

I generally have had good results with Leupold bases and rings, but tried them on my Model 75 with a Leupold 4.5-14X40 LR in 30 mm tube. They broke, and were unsatisfactory. Accordingly, I have backordered XTRA LOW Ringmounts from A2ZOutdoors.com, the only place I could find them.
