• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi,

Great board. Found it after much research.
I just got a new Sako 75 greywolf mainly for hunting. Few years ago when the 75 were plenty I wanted to get one but I got scared by the blow up barrels. The Sako 75 i got is a 7mm-08 mainly for lower recoil. My question is on the barrel it only says 7mm-08 Made in Finland and AIII. On the removeable bolt it has hand written in the metal kind of dots text the last three numbers of the serial number. The the serial number. Nowhere it says 75 ??? The serial number of the gun matches the serial number of the box which says greywolf Sako 75. Is this normal/correct ?

Also I want ot put a 40mm scope on it. Will LOW stainless steel rings and mount Optilock will work ?

Regards
Chris

Chris on the left side of the action I believe they say 75-III or the size of the action.(II- III- IV)
My four 75's are in the safe and I'm too lazy to go check.

The low Optilock will clear a 40mm objective and still let you drive a cattle truck between it and the barrel. The Optilock is a very high mount in three ways: Cost, weight, and height. If you want your scope down to minimum height to provide good eye placement and minimize sighting error from canting, look at some of the other good mounts currently available for Sako dovetails.

It has always be a huge mystery why Sako would design tapered dovetails to negate the need of bases, then start selling a scope mount which uses a big, fat, heavy base into which to mount the rings. Just doesn't make sense.

+1 for ML and Stonecreekranch. My SAKO 75 in 300 RUM shows only "SAKO V" and the serial number and proof mark on the left side of the action. Only the box carries the "75 V" designation. The rifle presently has a Nikon 3-9x40 in Optilocks, giving clearance of 1/4"+ above the barrel.
