• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I've been looking for a 75 in 6.5x55, without the lock, but they seem pretty scarce.
Last night I found a 75 Hunter in 260 Rem at Cabela's and decided to buy it. Price ended up at $915 + $25 shipping, and I'll have to pony up the Texas tax and my dealer's $35 fee, so should end up being about $1050 OTD.
I have Stoeger 75's in 22-250 and 280, and last year got a Ruger 77 RSI in 6.5x55. The Ruger is OK, but it IS a Ruger, and I really prefer the Sako.
I had forgotten about the 260 cartridge, and found the one I bought when I did a search for "Sako". In 1998 I had a Remington Model 7 in 260, and it was a nice little gun, but I liked a bit more weight in the barrel and the fore-end was too tiny for my tastes, so it got traded off.
Still have the old 260 load data and target records in the computer, have dies on the way, so I'm all set to try out a new-to-me gun.
Anyone else here have a Sako 260? Likes or dislikes?

I have a .260 Grey Wolf that I like a lot. Shoots like a dream, but I find the gun to be a bit on the big/heavy side for the cartridge. I used it to clobber an eight point whitetail that my friend had already hit...fortunately, the deer decided to hobble past my stand.

I find it just as superb a cartridge as the 6.5x55, of which I own a few of too.

Still have it ?

hey C-Monkey,
I've been looking for a 75 in 260 --- do you still have yours, and any interest in selling/trading it ? I am also in SE Michigan.

thanks

Mike-

I still have the rifle, but don't want to sell it at this time. Being as most whitetail hunting here is stand hunting, the extra weight of the Grey Wolf is no big deal. My buddy calls it a "Big Man's Gun" ...probably doesn't help that I have a 50 mm Swarovski on it either. I just loaded some Accubonds up to tinker with this spring.

c-monkey,

Just noticed this old thread referring to 260 Rem and AccuBonds. Have a Model 85 Hunter in 260 Rem and am waiting for some AccuBonds to arrive.
How did that long ago tinkering turn out? What were the bullet weights?
I hunt in the condor range so most reloads are non lead. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sandy
