• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

The rings on the Sako rifle I have are hinged and have screws on only one side. They say "Spain" on them. I need to find replacment screws for them. They seem to be shorter and smaller than any I can find. They have slotted heads. Any help in finding replacements would br greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Randy

Welcome to the forum. Could you upload a picture or two so we could get a better look?
Thanks,

Randy - Don't know if the screws for the Spanish mounts are metric like the Sakos. You might be money and effort ahead to just find a pair of original Sako ringmounts with good screws and ditch what you've got. Quality is a lot better IMO. Dick

big-d,
I had that problem last year. My gunsmith sent me to Fastenal. They matched them out. Don't know the size.
Guy asked me how many I needed and I said four. "We sell them by the thousand" Anyway he gave me the screws and called the smith and told him not to send anymore business like that.
He was very nice. Gunsmith told me later about the call. New screws are allen head.
I got my hinged mounts from Herter's. I ordered SAKO mounts and they substituted the hinged ones. Can't complain, been using them for about 45 years with no problems except fot soft screws.

Did they drill and tap them? If they were drilled an tapped here, then I'd say it's an SAE thread. If original Spanish, then metric.Sounds like you need some machine grade screws, however, when they drilled them, did they leave you room for a screw head? Maybe not. But, 45 years? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You could take them out and put some JB Weld in the threads. They won't go anywhere for another 450 years :bigsmile3: Just don't break your scope!
