• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I much prefer the A series actions. I'm not sure if it was the few I had, but I found the 75's to be amazingly heavy. Well over 10 pounds in magnum calibres, plus they just didn't feel, or look, "right" to me. The 75's are still a very nice rifle, and I wish I could get DM's in my A series, but they (75's) are just not for me!

You need one of these then.

They are not made by Sako & they are not in business anymore, but they do fit the AV action Sako. Just remove the floorplate & you are good to go.
No you can't have mine either.

Do tell! Can you provide more info? Who made them, and where can they be found? Looks like a quality part.

Thanks.

I cannot for the life of me find the
company name who used to make these. My local sports store found one in
his old stock while cleaning up. He said he had ordered it years ago
for a customer who never came back to pick it up. After inspecting it
over I figured it looked good enough to give it a try. It works just
like a Tikka magazine. I cycled 4 rounds through the rifle as quick as
I could without a problem. Here is the paper that came with the
magazine. If I ever hear more I'll let you know.

While the majority of my rifles are A series, both with the 'Hunter' style and transitional L series stocks, the few early L's I have are definitely my favourites. Fit and finish are exceptional with a craftsmans touch which is hard to find on anything new these days. I have not shouldered another factory rifle that fits me as well as my L579. I guess it's what you blokes in the US would call a "Pre-Garcia" from what I have read.

In saying all that I do own a stainless/synthetic 75 in .300 win. mag. and have no complaints. I call it my "sacrificial anode". It serves it's purpose and is a rifle that has withstood just a little neglect over the years with no detrimental effect to finish or servicability.

Enjoy em' I certainly do !
