• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Jim Lutes has passed away. While never active in the Sako Collectors Club Forum Jim was one of the co-founders of the SCA and a true wealth of knowledge as well as a good friend to many of us who have collected sako's for many years. He was able to go deer hunting just a couple of weeks ago at the age of 88. May we all be so fortunate. RIP Jim.

Jim worked very hard for the SCA and distributed valuable information via the FinnMark Newsletter which has been brought forward to the new generation of Sako lovers everywhere. He also fielded calls from many of us and provided solutions as well parts for many of our "problems'. He will be missed greatly and his legacy will go on.

All!
I wasnxB4t so lucky to know Jim Lutes personally, but I know from friends in the US that he was a terrific guy and a driving force of SCA back in the days. My thoughts and deepest sympathy goes to his family and friends!
Happy Hunting Jim!!
Jim aka L61R

The SAKO Nation has taken a big loss, and this is sorrowing news.

My condolences to Jim's family, friends and fellow collectors.

WOW... This is very sad news. I had the luxury of dealing with Jim a few times and he was nothing but a gentlemen. He was always willing to help. My prayers go out to him and his family.

My condolences for Jim and his family and friends. Another fine Sako friend is gone from us. Rest in peace.-Misako

Prayers from Missouri for the Lutes family. Upon reading the news, I pulled out some old Finnmark news letters for reflection. My father, Gary V. Mason (dec'd 1999; S.C.A. member #35; SAKO leverage action enthusiast; S.C.A. VP 1987 when Jim Lutes was President) was very fond of Mr. Lutes and would have contributed to his memory in this discussion. I had the privilege to converse with Mr. Lutes on a couple of occasions and was always impressed with his personal hand typed notes and SAKO knowledge. Back in 2005, I was desperately seeking a replacement 3 round clip for one of my Sako Finnwolfs, Mr. Jim Lutes came to my rescue. R.I.P. - Peter Mason

Thank you Peter. I also gained a great deal of knowledge from your father. He contributed greatly to my love for the Finnwolf. I am very sorry to hear he is lost to us also. Feel free to share what knowledge you have, with us, anytime.-Misako

I too had the opportunity to speak with Jim Lutes and get reference information from him. He came to my rescue once as well with a replacement deluxe floorplate for my 7mm rem mag. I have one of Jim's rifles in my collection (.264), also have one I purchased from Connie Wheeler (.300 Win) and another from George Boyd (.270). That's three of the most knowledgable Sako collectors from the old SAKO Collectors Association that I ever had the opportunity to speak to. Memories......

My prayers are with Jim's family......

I am saddened to hear of Jim Lutes passing. He was a good friend, both during our tenure at SCA and during several hunting trips together. I last talked to him about three years ago and he was still pretty active, told me he has enjoys chasin turkeys (at 85 years old). He was a infinite source of knowledge regarding Sakos; he accumulated and sold many parts and knew each rifle intimately.

I recall one trip together to Wyoming. We rode around daily in his Jeep, and there was always a bloody mary sitting on the dashboard. I will miss him. And Peter, I knew your father well too, he was the go-to guy for Finnwolfs. I was not aware of his passing. My condolences to both families.

Tried to find Jim's obit in the KS papers, but failed. I do note Jim's wife Winnie - also a great person - passed in October.
