Thought you might like to see another L579 with one piece bottom metal. They really are easy to take apart and re-assemble.

I notice that this one has a checkered bolt shroud rather than the longitudinal grooves of Kirk's gun -- even though they have the same flat on the underside of the bolt knob. I am yet to figure out why guns of apparently the same era had some features which were different, but I guess it is just the same old Sako "mix and match" that we've seen in so many of their rifles.

    Beautiful rifle, by the way!

Notice that the white spacer on the butt stock is between the black spacer and the wood. This is a 1961 rifle and the white spacer touching the wood is a typical oddity for Deluxes made in 61. Prior to 61, all the Deluxes I ran across had the white spacer between the pad and the black spacer. After 61, Sako soon stopped installing a white spacer on the Deluxe butt stock. I think Sako was uncertain about installing both white and black spacers on the L61R's, and therefore some of the very early L61's have white and black spacers on the butt stock. But white spacers on the butt stock disappeared very early from the L61's.

Its a 244. As usual, when I take pictures they either aren't focused or there is a lot of light glare.

Rocky, here's a picture that is better focused.
