• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Okay to mount 1"tube with "26" ringmounts?

Just got a new l579 that came with high ring mounts and a vari-x iic scope already mounted. Upon inspection, I noticed that the scope rings are 26s, not 25.4s. Scope seems very snug, but I know it's not the right size. Anyone have experience with this? Should I just put the scope in some 25.4 ringmounts and move these 26s to storage (or to someone else that wants them?)

Thank you!

Who's that good looking Sako enthusiast in the background behind the scope?

I'd advise placing a small piece of electrical tape in each ring half. This will provide just enough bushing to assure that the 1" scope is secure in the very slightly oversized rings, as well as cushioning it from any ring marks due to slight misalignment of the rings.

Agree, and I would add that it's highly likely that whoever mounted the scope in the first place has already done it, or added a shim in some other way. I recently bought a rimfire with a 1" scope in a set of European 26mm rings and the tape had been trimmed and aligned so carefully that I had to look several times to be sure that the rings had, in fact, been shimmed.
