• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hey all,
Photo's of the newest addition, AIV Safari Grade, .300 Win. Mag., SN 552048. According to Sako, the first Serial number for these Safari Grades was 552017, which rolled out on Dec. 5th, 1980.
Regards, Will

NICE!!!

But as usual, lists are not 100% reliable.

I have seen a Safari Grade .375H&H with a serial number in the 53xxxx range. Built on an AIII action. With long tang!

Just another Sako anomaly!! Or maybe a pre-production rifle or test run? Go figure?

Thanks for sharing!

Jim

Another superb Sako with excellent quality woodwork and crisp chequering, they are made so well you just know they are up to the job.

Paticularly good woodwork on the second Sako did it come from the factory like that and if so was it a special order ?

Sako 85:

Yes, from the factory. -

ItxB4 s not a "Safari". - It's like the "Classic" AV but with open sights and free floating barrel.

Set trigger installed at the factory.

Hi Jim ( Sweden),

This is for you.

"The most elegant rifle Sako ever made", I was told by an American gunwriter.... I tend to agree and I think you as well....?

Luckily not everybody has the same taste.....

It's an AV Classic in 30-06 and this Eritrean Gazelle was shot at 275 yards with 165gr Nosler Bal.tip loaded by Sako's PL in Finland. - ItxB4s somewhere in the Northern Sudan. The guys with the big hair are called "Fuzzy Wuzzy" and are excellent trackers for Ibex and gazelles. (sorry for poor quality photo)

Sorry Jim,

Wasn't meant that way. I also sold and gave away Sakos I regret today. At least there are memories and in your case beautiful photos left.

You have that
Swedish "weapons wardrobe" which forces you to really think carefully what to have and not to have....
I guess that one played a role when you sold your Classics. - When I sell mine, you'll get a special
discount .

Jim,
What a nice gesture from SS. When you eventually get them, I will be happy to store them for you at my house:bigsmile3:. I have another safe coming later this month, so there is some real estate inside that is reserved for you:wink2:. With "plan B", you can have all the SAKOs you need, uh. want:evil2:.

SS!Thanks a lot for your kind offer! IxB4ll take you up on it, rest assured!!:bigsmile3:Yeah our 6 limit gun "wardrobe" is a drag! To say the least!:sad2:So I have a solution of my own. I buy Sakos, shoot them for a while and then pass them on.A least it gives me the chance to own and try a lot of different models. Not bad even if I had preferred to own them all!!Jim

It has crossed my mind!
HavenxB4t given up but I think there is slim chance! And my kids are way too young to obtain licenses but in another 10 years maybe??
I have filed for a collectors license but that might take some time.
Meanwhile I enjoy what I have. Just bought 2 new ones and I hope to have them home by the time I get home from my ship.
Take care!!

Jim:
Thanks for sharing with us the beauty of the Classics. Seeing your posted pictures caused some brain cells to awaken, so I checked my safe and, lo and behold, there sits what appears to be an A II Classic that had been apparently re-barreled by its former owner to 6BR. It's SN is 3509xx and it has the red Sako pad. I always liked the rifle due to its simple, straight lines and figured wood, but I had never looked at it closely and just assumed that the stock was not a Sako original. Maybe this is another "blind pig finds acorn" story...
