Hello, from Allentown, Pennsylvania. I found this forum after trying to find some information on my Sako Rifle. I have a Sako Forester L-579 in .22-250, that was purchased new for me as a high school graduation gift back in 1979. I'm extremely fond of that rifle and used to shoot it frequently, but then life got in the way. I was doing a lot of handgun shooting / competition and shooting it fell by the wayside. I've got the itch, and some time, to start shooting and reloading for it again.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the SCC Forum, Hochy. That was an awesome HS graduation gift you received! Hope you'll post some photos of your Forester and targets.

What handgun/caliber are you shooting in competition?

    Thank you!
I used to primarily shoot 1911s in .45, but a few years ago, when things started getting crazy, I pretty much switched to 9mm. The "lost brass" matches were getting a little expensive shooting .45 and losing the brass. 9mm is about half the price. I have a small collection of various make 1911s, including two in 9mm. Other than the 1911s, I'll use one of my S&W M&Ps. Used to shoot IDPA a few years ago, but now it's an occasional steel match. I've also been reloading since I was 12, under the direction of my uncle.

How about that a L579 back in 79. I imagine that .22-250 is a fine shooter too. Hochy Welcome to SCC. Wayne

    Thank you!
I haven't shot it in a while, but I could easily get a 5/8" 5 shot group at 100 yds.

That's a Sako for you! And good shooting, too!
