• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

New to me Sako M78 .22

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hi guys. New guy here. I "accidentally" bought a Sako M78 at an auction. I have owned and still own several Tikka's but know nothing on Sako's other than anything I have seen of Sako is exceptional. My new to me Sako is an M78 .22. It as a carbine with a Mannlicher stock. It has inlays on both sides of the stock, one side is a mallard, one side an eagle. The serial number is M78 712XXX. It has a 5 round magazine that much to my surprise goes for 200-250 from what I saw when I wanted a spare. The trigger is as fine as I have seen on a rimfire. I have a Mauser, a Kimber and a CZ and the Sako trigger makes them all look bad. I have read that they did not import a lot of the full stocked rifles.

What can I learn about this rifle from you guys? Thanks for any assistance.

Howdy, This little project should be a fun shooter. As its been heavily customized, there probably isnt much collectors value. Do a search under waterwolf to see his one of a kind original! Maybe he’ll post a picture of it.

Stock is a custom (not factory) & looks like it was adapted from a different rifle. Barrel has been shortened. Looks like it would make a handy squirrel gun.

There is some very attractive wood grain and character with this one! Custom built for sure.
If I was a squirrel..I would be honored
