• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Just purchased my first Tikka rifle. It is an Ithaca marked rifle in .308. The receiver is marked LSA-55 and the serial number is 550-116xxx. Would like to know the year of manufacture. Also, what is a good set of rings to get that will fit in the receiver grooves?

Thank you,

Pat

In the Factory Records Service section there is a post from Feb. 15, 2017 by Treeman86 titled "Ithaca LSA 55-65 and Tikka LSA 55-65 serial number build data" that has a couple links that may help you.

The best rings for the LSA-55 are the factory Tikka rings that drop into the built-in dovetails. Unfortunately, in recent years they have become very hard to find. There were also some rings made in Australia that fit the Tikka dovetails. They are seldom seen here, but I did pick up a pair off Gunbroker last year. Note that the rings for the LSA-series guns (identical to the M55/M65 sold under the Tikka name in other markets) are NOT interchangeable with rings for the 595/695 and T3 rifles. As an alternative, most LSA rifles are drilled and tapped for aftermarket mounts. Check yours to be sure. Weaver makes an inexpensive mount that will work fine if you can't find any genuine Tikka rings or their Australian clones. You could also check to see if Warne or Talley makes anything suitable, but that would be at higher cost. You could also check New England Custom Guns, but anything from there would likely be very expensive.
