• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Just Purchased A Sako Finwolf 308 , How Do I Know What Year It Was Made ? Also Missing Sights But Has Scope So Could Use Some Info On Sights And How To I D This Gun ,Thank You

illsting- You may start by posting a serial number. It is OK to X out . We can get close to a Date. We could use some pictures but I do know that the Finnwolf came with front sights and rear sights but some with only front sights. The sako peep sight would be used for the rear in the latter set ups. Sight hoods vary with age but the front sights are the same as the Foresters as far as I can tell. Those with rear sights have been Garcia and Stoeger era rifles as far as what I have seen. Rear opens sights may have been used on the earlier ones. I just haven't seen them. Welcome to the forum.- Misako

Hello everyone.
I have wanted a Sako heavy barrel .243 for the last 30 years. It always seemed to be a luxury and other things came first but I have finally found the one!
Looking over the info on the forum I have decided upon Conetrol scope mounts for a Leupold 6.5-20x scope. I am interested in bipods but not entirely sure I want to go there or not.
A good friend who teaches at Marine sniper school will be in this next week and I hope to have his help in sighting next week.
I sure enjoy reading the info on the forum and look forward to learning more.
Thanks

I will post some soon... Still waiting on Conetrol to send the correct rings and they have had to modify the bases to fit further up on the dovetails.
Looking at the serial numbers, this rifle appears to be the third Forester they made in January 1960. That was pretty cool.
